Let Bobby Bowden Stay
I grew up a Seminole fan and I went to FSU for two years and when you think of FSU you think of Bobby Bowden. Bobby Bowden is a college football legend. I guarantee every single head coach in the college level, with the exception of Joe Paterno, would give anything to have a career Bowden has had. Bowden has 384 wins, which is second all time and has had 41 winning seasons which is a record that will probably not be broken anytime soon.
Bowden obviously has gotten older and FSU has seemed to have lost a step of team of the past and people are trying to make Bowden retire after this season. Make Bowden retire? Really? The man is a living college football legend. He can do whatever he wants in my book. The problem is that FSU has been a college football elite for so many years that it is impossible to keep up that level of competition and the truth is, a “bad” season in FSU eyes would be a great season in almost all other universities in the nation. Bobby Bowden has won two national titles and 14 ACC championships. Leave the man alone. Bobby Bowden is FSU. Without him FSU would not be nearly as successful or acclaimed as they are.
People need to get off of Bobby Bowdens back. The man has earned the right to do what he wants with his career without having to deal with annoying people who probably are younger than Bobby Bowden’s coaching career. Granted Jimbo Fisher is itching to become the head coach, but you know why? Because of the great football tradition that Bobby Bowden created at FSU. The field is named after Bowden and there is even a National Bobby Bowden Award, which is given to the college football coach who has accomplished the most on the field, in the classroom and in the community. What more does he need to do to get the respect he deserves instead of being humiliated with being forced out of FSU football. Are you serious? Leave the man alone. He’s earned it.
