What am I going to do?
As I learn more and more about public relations and all of the different fields I can go into as a public relation practitioner I am getting more confused of what I want. One of the reasons I love public relations is the fact I can go into almost any field I can fathom, doing their public relations. I can do non-profits, sports, fashion, music or agency. I can go do anything. And even though this is one of the awesome aspects about my major it is also the aspect that seems to be giving me the biggest headache.
I have interned at MOSI and am currently interning with the Lightning Foundation which are both non-profit, yet the Lightning Foundation is for the Tampa Bay Lightning so it gives me access to the sports world. I have loved both of my opportunities so far, but is non-profit what I want to do? I want to know if I would like agency life, I would like to know if I like corporation life or maybe even do some marketing. I want to know and get experience everywhere, but I am running out of time to figure out. I graduate in the spring and have time for one more internship and then I’m in the “real-world.” I don’t have the time I need. I hope I can figure this out and get a good internship in the spring. I am definitely not going to do the non-profit again because I want to be well rounded and know as much as I can about as many different things as possible.
I use to think I was prepared for graduation, but as it comes closer and I closer I realize I don’t know as much as I need too. I hope everything works out and I can figure out exactly what I want because if I don’t find a job quickly after I graduate, my lease will be up and I’ll be forced to move back home and I do not want that. It can’t let that happen.
